Gayle broke the record of fastest double century held by India’s Virender Sehwag as he scored 200 runs in 138 deliveries while Sehwag had taken 140 balls to reach the milestone. February 24 also remains to be the day when first double century in One Day Internationals (ODIs) was scored by none other than the living legend, Sachin Tendulkar.
Chris Gayle’s double century also makes him the first non-Indian player to join the famed list of individual 200 run-scorers. On February 24, 2015, Chris Gayle bludgeoned the poor Zimbabweans to score first double hundred in any world cup editions. He took over Gary Kirsten as the highest scorer in the world cup history. He finished with 215 runs before getting out at the last delivery of the West Indies innings. He hit record number of 16 sixes. He had record partnership of 372 with Marlon Samuels in the history of ODIs.
Rohit Sharma 264 against Sri Lanka
On November 13, 2014, Rohit Sharma blasted Sri Lankan side in the home series to score his second double century of his career. He took 151 deliveries to reach 200-run mark playing at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. It included 25 fours and five sixes. Rohit Sharma did not stop at the double century but went on to cross 250 run mark in 166 deliveries.
Virender Sehwag 219 against West Indies
On Devcember 8, 2011, the Nawab of Njafgarh, took on West Indies side by storm playing at Indore. Sehwag taking mere 140 deliveries (23 x 4, 6 x 6) to reach the double century created sensation in the cricketing world. It was also the highest record for quite some time before being shattered by Rohit Sharma. He finished with 219 runs in 149 deliveries.

On November 2, 2013, Rohit Sharma scored his first double century when he ripped Aussies pace attack. Batting first against Australia at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore, Sharma opened the innings and was at his fiery best. He scored 200 off 156 balls that included 12 x 4s and 15 sixes in the memorable innings.
Sachin Tendulkar 200* against South Africa
On this day in 2010, Sachin Tendulkar etched another achievement against his name when he hammered Proteas to score the first double century of ODIs. Playing at Gwalior, Tendulkar was at his sublime best as he remained not out at 200 off 147 deliveries
